Dhurtaan – the Dreadknight
“If you fear death, you will come to fear me.”
The Dreadknights are a sinister power in Torhal. Gaining their power from spilled blood and keeping it through threats, the Dreadknights are a looming symbol of fear and tyranny. They take what they want, from whoever has it. Even their allies keep a close eye on them, as the Dreadknights have turned on more than one friend over minor squabbles. They wield dark magics, using the souls of those they have killed to empower their own spells.
The Power of Undeath
Dhuurtan is without fear, because he has stared death in the face, and walked away from his icy grip. Pain means nothing to a man who has overcome death, and that is apparent in the dark pacts that the Dreadknights make to power their spells. One of the earliest rituals that a Dreadknight learns is the bleeding blade, wherein they channel their own life force through their weapon to deal extra damage when they attack.
How they Play
A Dreadknight guild functions in a high risk, high reward fashion. Their abilities often damage or weaken themselves in order to be the largest threat on the field. Whether channeling their own life force, or capturing the essence of those they have slain, a Dreadknight is a dealer of death in the extreme.
The Quintessential Dreadknight
The Deathknight is a warrior with no living equal. The Dark arts that he practices are extremely self destructive, but also extremely effective. He can infuse himself with undeath, taking damage over time, but increasing his damage potential greatly. He can also siphon life away from his slain enemies to heal his wounds. Even those he inflicted on himself! Other adventurers respect the Deathknight’s tenacity and power, but oftentimes find his self destructive tendencies unnerving, never wanting to be shoulder-to-shoulder with someone glowing with demonic energy.
